PRIVATE MUSIC LESSONS

At one time in history, music lessons were enjoyed only by the privileged royalty. Throughout the 18th and early 19th centuries, most families were financially unable to purchase instruments, and visiting music masters taught children of the gentry and aristocracy.

It is our position at Harmony School that everyone should be able to study music! Until age 5 or 6, a less formal, non-performance music education is more preferable, as indicated in the chart to the right. (See our Music Together® program for the little ones.) Thereafter, the sky is the limit!

We welcome students of all backgrounds, from ages 5 to 95+, to pursue the life-long joy of music making. Weekly lessons provide tailored instruction and mentoring support from our accomplished faculty members. Music training does wonders for the development of mind, soul, and body, for the young and the young at heart. It may surprise you to know how many adults come through our doors each week! Students are given both informal and formal performance opportunities throughout the year. For best progress, instruments must be available for daily practice.
